Panel Advantages

IOWA SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels) are constructed of two OSB sheets with polyurethane insulation sandwiched between. This makes them thin, strong and super insulated. IOWA SIPs are mostly used as walls, but can be used for floors and roofs.

  • Standard Panels
-4 inch thick panels- 4 feet wide by various heights
-6 inch thick panels- 4 feet wide by various heights
-8 inch thick panels- 4 feet wide by various heights
-Pre-cut panels and custom panels are available.
-Panels can easily be modified on the construction site with a circular saw.
     Jobsite support is available.

  • Unique Molding Process
A unique molding process creates a super-strong natural bond between the OSB and insulation. Other structurally insulated panels use glue as a binding agent, which can create de-lamination. Iowa SIPS uses polyurethane foam which is considered one of the strongest adhesives in the market.

  • Strength of Iowa SIPS
Iowa SIPS is constructed with OSB for extra strength. With OSB, each layer is criss-crossed, giving it more strength and durability. With traditional wafer board, the layers run in the same direction and are more likely to split.

We also construct our Iowa SIPS panels with commercial glass board, rather than OSB. This is commonly used in agriculture construction because it is incredibly easy to clean and maintain.

  • Installing Utilities
Each panel comes with a pre-drilled 1 1/8 inch diameter hole for an electrical chase. The holes are 16 inches high (standard) and 48 inches (counter) from the ground. Using each pre-drilled channel is optional. If you don’t use them, the panel strength and insulation remains the same.

  • No studs needed
With Iowa SIPS you don’t need to find a stud when hanging a picture. They are structurally designed to hang artwork or light shelving anywhere on the interior wall.

  • Windows and Doors
Windows and doors are rough framed in at the manufacturing plant. A rough opening is provided for ease of construction and to control waste.
